Book Review: Alienation A C.H.A.O.S Novel

Alienation written by Jon S. Lewis is the science fiction novel of sixteen year old Colt McAlister.

All Colt wants to do is return to his old life... where aliens don't exist... where mankind hasn't been targeted for destruction... and where his parents are still alive. Unfortunately life doesn't work that way.

The United states government believes Colt holds the key to our survival, so they're sending him the the CHAOS Military academy along with his best friends Oz and Danielle . They'll be trained to defend Earth against a swarm of alien shape shifters known as the Thule. But someone is trying to eliminate colt before he can lead that charge. Shocked to learn about key events in his past and unsure who he can trust, he is alienated and on the run.

In a world of high tech gear, shape shifting aliens, stimulated reality, and hover boards, Colt must step into his true destiny before our world falls into chaos.

As you may have noticed, Alienation is very different from the books I normally read and review. Aliens, space crafts and such are strange topics for a girl who reads Amish novels, among other genres. I did enjoy this novel though.

Though the events of this book were strange, I enjoyed the humor. I didn't feel lost, which is great because this book is the second in the C.H.A.O.S trilogy. The author's style of writing is intriguing and extremely descriptive. I do warn you though, there was a bit of violence which included a few car chases.

On the other hand, there is  biblical truth weaved into the novel. Colt's grandfather gives him a medallion upon joining the academy. The words God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in time of trouble are inscribed on it. The verse in Psalms 46:11 is a key in Colt's life.

I was also intrigued by the cliff hanger chapter endings. I finished this book very quickly because of its enthralling plot

I'd recommend this book to teenagers who are interested in science fiction. It may be too much for younger readers, but is well paced.

If you'd like to purchase and read Alienation you can purchase it from Amazon, Amazon Kindle, CBD and e-Reader.

I received this book from Litfuse publicity in exchange for my honest review.

Counting My Blessings

Monday
I had a delicious bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats with freshly sliced strawberries.

We had family night, playing a few rounds of Connect Four. I won nearly every round. YEAH!!!

Tuesday

I am grateful to the Lord that He has allowed me to remain on track with my Bible reading plan.

Wednesday

Bare trees

Sun flares

My sister, mother and I went out to pick up my mother's new glasses.

After we went to pick up the glasses, we all enjoyed a delicious lunch together.

Thursday
We were able to pack these little bundles for children in the Dominican Republic. A brother in Christ from our church is going on a mission trip to spread the gospel. Please pray that the Lord may prosper his trip and that many may come to know Jesus.

Friday
Bare trees and a beautiful blue sky

I am not too sure what this bush is, but it is still green and has some sort of berries

Dead hydrangeas

Ali and I baked some cupcakes. We baked strawberry and lemon cupcakes for a baby shower. They came out delicious!

Are you counting your blessings? I'd love to read of the wonderful things God is doing in your life. Feel free to leave you link below so that my readers and I can also be blessed.

For The Love of Vintage

Vintage things are lovely. They transport me to a sweeter, simpler, and lovelier time. Every piece of vintage jewelry I see, there is a beauty that isn't seen today. Brightly colored bracelets and intricately fashioned necklaces are beautiful. Vintage clothing is so modest, but still so fashionable and feminine. Vintage decor is elegance at it finest.

What are you favorite vintage things? I'd love to hear about them.

Blog Design~ God's Graceful Girls

Throughout my blogging journey, I have become friends with many godly young ladies. One graceful girl in particular encourages me with her comments. I felt it in my heart to create a blog design for her and this is how it came out.

Here is the design I did for her:

Me. Forgive me for not smiling:) (above)

My lovely mother and I. (below)
New Years was great, especially spending it with the most important and encouraging people in my life, my brothers and sisters in Christ. The service began with praise and worship. Then, we joined in the Lord's Supper, a beautiful act in remembrance of Christ's sacrifice for us. As the night drew on, several shared testimonies.  God is so good!!!

After a snack and many laughs with friends and a funny uncle, we headed upstairs to continue the blessed service. I truly enjoyed myself in the Lord's presence, and expect to see more of His goodness.

Monday

My mom and I went to my grandmother's house. We enjoyed a snack together and she made us a pitcher of a delicious oatmeal drink.

My dad was off from work and we enjoyed a day together.

Tuesday

This was the first Tuesday prayer service of the year. I prayed for my continued health and thanked the Lord that He has provided for my divine health.

My mom, sister and I went food shopping and I thank God that my little sister behaved so well and we made it back home in record time!!

Wednesday

I wrote out my goals for this month.  I also memorized my scripture memory verse which is:
Exodus 14:14, "The Lord Himself will fight for you. Just stay calm."

Thursday

This was the first Thursday service of the year.  Pastor preached from John 5: 1-15.  Persistence is key!!!

Friday

We went to Target and scored on some great finds.

There was also a box of Gobstoppers, but the box is nearly empty:|

My mom attempted a new recipe tonight and it was really good:)

I would enjoy to read all the wonderful blessings that the Lord is showering you with.  Link up your "Counting My Blessings"!
