You asked, I answer.

I recently received a question from Butterfly Kisses, (I apologize for the delayed response:)

Proverbs 31 Woman: (n) One who is virtuous. One who blesses and does not curse. A wise woman, worthy of imitation. A woman who fears the Lord. She honors God, her husband (if it applies), and authorities. She is selfless. She is a teacher. She is organized. She is a good steward of all that the Lord blesses her with. She is talented.

Proverbs 31 is not only an appealing list of attributes that describe the perfect woman. This Proverb is a commitment, almost a challenge, I'm striving to fulfill. The Proverb describes a busy woman who is daily edifying her home. She is the ideal rolemodel as to what a godly wife and woman is. We learn from her not to be idle. We learn to help the needy. We learn to always speak wise words.

The world strongly suggests that women be rebels who don't need to honor their husbands. The Bible clearly says that a women is to honor her husband:

"Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

(Ephesians 5:22-24)

Today's society applauds and encourages women to dress in a way that is revealing and immodest. When a woman dresses immodestly, she stirs up feelings in men that can not be righteously fulfilled.

"And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes."

(1 Timothy 2:9)
In the Bible, there are many woman who can be categorized as Proverbs 31 women. Sarah, Rebecca, Esther, and Dorcas are just a few. We learn from each of them what it means to truly fear the Lord. These women are the examples we should live by and look up to, for they pleased the Lord.

Are you striving to be a Proverbs 31 woman? I know that I am... and only with the help of the Lord, will I achieve my goal.

"And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." PhilIppians 4:8
