For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future

Jeremiah 29:11

Have you ever thought about your future? Have you dreamed of becoming a teacher, or an artist or a doctor? Have you considered becoming a missionary and ministering in the jungles of Ecuador? Have you thought about one day getting married and having children? I have! 

Sometimes, our minds can get so preoccupied with thoughts of the future. Doing so is of no use to us because we cannot control the future. The Lord is in complete control. The ideas we have, may have been put in our hearts by God. The only way to find out is by asking Him.

Ask, and you will receive. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened for you.

Matthew 7:7

God is so faithful. He answers us when we ask.

We should make goals and take steps to accomplish them. If they are according to God's plans, He will guide us. If those plans aren't His plans, He will reveal the truth to us. When God says "No" He knows what trials and tribulations we will be spared from in the future. 

We even read that God knew us first and has our lives recorded in complete detail.

You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.

Psalm 139:16

In the Bible we read of a man who had a dream, but God said, "No." Read 2 Samuel 7 to read of King David's dream. Even though David wanted to please God, he had to change his plans to obey God.

It's okay to dream... but we must always surrender our dreams to God. We should always consult Him in every aspect of out lives, especially in decision  making.
